A Message From Our President:

Dear Colleagues,

I am very pleased to welcome you back this year for our in-person MFOA Annual Conference at Blue Mountain Resort. I would like to extend an invitation to each of you who work in the Municipal Finance field, in varied capacities, to attend our Conference. I believe that there are many tangible benefits offered to each of us who attend the conference and utilizing these will aid us in performing our daily responsibilities.

This year’s conference in the Town of The Blue Mountains has a theme of “The Power of Resilience”. This theme is very timely since we’ve all faced many challenges and had to deal with rapid changes over the past two years. One of our core strengths as a collective group is our amazing willingness to go the extra mile to help our colleagues find the resources and support, they need. This collaborative network was especially demonstrated and relied on over the past two years.

Attending the annual conference is an opportunity to connect with other finance professionals and gives you the chance to expand your contacts. You will be exposed to a tremendous knowledge resource that you can draw on year-round!

Once again, this year, the annual MFOA conference includes excellent keynote speakers, expert exhibitors, helpful case studies, and tremendous networking opportunities. Join us to learn, develop professionally, meet colleagues, and celebrate the power of Municipal Finance resilience.

Laura Barta
President, MFOA

Keynote Speakers:

Linda Nazareth
Economist and Futurist

Resilience in a Time of Economic Disruption
Bouncing back has always been important, but has there ever been a time when businesses got jolted in the way that is true today? Megatrends like climate change and fourth industrial revolution are rocking our world, and every business has to adjust, and quickly. Throw in some economic and political shocks and you have a world that must change on a dime. Only the resilient will survive.

In Resilience in a Time of Disruption, economist Linda Nazareth explores the concept of resilience, looking at why it is suddenly one of the most important characteristics for companies and their workers to acquire. How are successful organizations dealing with the accelerated pace of change that is becoming the norm? How should companies plan for a time for the possibility that their well-crafted plans have to be scrapped, again? And how do you develop a workforce that thrives in a time of disruption? It Is a brave new world, but with this presentation you will feel that you are ready to deal with whatever it brings.
