Asset Management Continuous Improvement Strategies - Part 2:
Building Competencies in Asset Management (AM403.2)
Webinar Overview:
O. Reg. 588/17 has been a catalyst for municipalities across the province in establishing asset management plans for core and non-core infrastructure. Having said that, many continue struggling to build the workforce capacity and capabilities required to develop and maintain a formal, organization-wide AM program.
The Canadian Network of Asset Managers (CNAM) brought together a broad coalition of national associations involved in supporting AM, community planning and management, and AM-related industry professions in Canada to use their collective expertise to meet this challenge. The Asset Management Competency Framework for Canadian Communities (AMCF) was the result.
The AMCF was developed to:
Provide alignment on the scope of AM, while highlighting the connections between the various professions that overlap with the interdisciplinary practice of AM.
Establish a shared understanding of the competencies (the knowledge, skills, and behaviours) that a community’s workforce should possess to best deliver their AM programs.
Provide communities with a foundation to identify AM capability gaps and a planning structure to address those gaps with targeted development opportunities.
Provide communities with better information to facilitate hiring qualified candidates in their organization.

The webinar will cover four (4) key areas of learning:
An Introduction to the AM Competency Framework
Six (6) Asset Management Competency Categories
