As part of the Asset Management Roadmap 3.0 training series, this two-part session will focus on developing evidence-based capital plans that align with asset management strategies. Participants will learn practical approaches to building data foundations, creating analytical frameworks, and presenting compelling business cases that link capital investments to long-term asset management objectives across multiple asset classes.

What You will Learn:

Part 1: Establishing the Foundation (October 30)
The first session covers the essential first steps for evidence-based capital planning. Topics include identifying and accessing data sources, engaging subject matter experts across the organization, establishing working groups, and integrating information into unified templates. Participants will learn to verify data quality, analyze funding sources by asset type, and create connections to ten-year capital plans with an asset management focus.

Part 2: Advanced Analytics and Integration (November 12)
The second session explores techniques for condition data management, advanced analysis methods, and asset management plan development. Content includes building risk and levels of service into planning processes, demonstrating current state versus ten-year projections, and advanced approaches to O. Reg. compliance. The session will show how organizations can take the next step beyond basic compliance requirements and link the outcomes of asset management analysis to decision making.

About your Presenters:
Daryush Esmaili is Vice President at Aspire Consulting and a Fellow of the Institute of Asset Management. Daryush has over a decade of progressive experience across the full asset lifecycle, and previously served as AVP and Chief Facilities and Sustainability Officer at Sheridan College, managing 150+ staff and $2.4B+ in assets across three campuses. He has supported over 50 municipalities in their asset management journey, led the creation of in-house asset management teams, and has led the facilitation of evidence-based corporate capital budgeting processes integrating best practices in asset management, project management, and risk management. He is currently furthering the field through academic research in Civil Engineering and Asset Management at McMaster University, serving as the Convenor of ISO TC251 to develop international publications for integrating sustainability requirements within an asset management system, and is currently supporting the Institute of Asset Management on various initiatives including developing their revised competency guidelines for asset management.
