Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to extend an invitation to you to join me at this year’s MFOA Annual Conference in picturesque Muskoka at the Deerhurst Resort.  This year’s conference theme is “Building Communities of Trust” and will be an event you won’t want to miss!

Over the years I have found that it is important and useful to meet and learn from colleagues in different municipalities, or sectors that deliver services for municipalities.  Networking and team work takes place both inside the workplace and in the expanded engaged operations of external contacts.  Whether you are learning from others or passing on knowledge that you have acquired in your municipality, the result is an overall improved and dedicated staff of Municipal Financial Officers which results in greater TRUST within our Communities.

Whether you’re a municipal finance veteran or a newcomer to this dynamic profession, I encourage you to register for this year’s conference. The MFOA Team has an exciting program planned with learning sessions that offer over 30 CPD hours, memorable keynote speakers, leading edge case studies and a robust group of industry experts participating in our Trade Show. With so much content to choose from, MFOA is also recording all sessions and, as a registered delegate, you will have access to them for playback post-conference.

While we hope you can attend in person to take full advantage of the conference experience, MFOA is once again offering a hybrid conference option that allows delegates to assess their time and budget and attend either in person or virtually. Hotel Accommodations:

Deerhurst Resort - limited rooms availableThe MFOA has secured a block of rooms for our delegates with Deerhurst Resort. Please note selection/availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis and availability is not guaranteed. Call the reservations line at 1-800-461-4393 and be sure to identify yourself as being part of the Municipal Finance Officers' Association (MFOA) group in order to qualify for the group rate. Rooms will be held until Saturday, August 17 or until it is full, whichever comes first. 

Hidden Valley Resort - NEW room block available 
To book your hotel stay at Hidden Valley Resort (only 2 minute drive from Deerhurst Resort), call the reservations line at (705)-789-2301 or email at reservations@hiddenvalleyresort.ca. Let them know you are part of the Municipal Finance Officers' Association (MFOA) group. Rooms will be held until Tuesday, August 27 or until it is full, whichever comes first. 

SPECIAL NOTES:
 

  • Please also take a look on Hidden Valley's website for room pricing as their rates fluctuate daily and you could benefit from a lower rate outside the MFOA block. MFOA's room block pricing starts at $199+
  • However, the fine print on the website has stricter reservations terms than the MFOA room block (for example, nonrefundable/non transferable, pay in full rate, whereas the MFOA rate is refundable up to 7 days prior,  and only requires a deposit of 1 night stay)
  • Shuttle services will be provided to delegates who stay at Hidden Valley Resort. Schedules will be provided at a later date

    Continuing Professional Development (CPD):

    The MFOA 2024 Annual Conference qualifies for a minimum of 30* verifiable CPD hours. Shortly after the conference, you will receive a confirmation letter and access to a CPD session document you can use for verification purposes. 
     
    *Total CPD hours for 2024 Annual Conference is calculated based on purchasing In-Person Package 1 (Tuesday - Friday) or Live Stream Package, and all sessions are attended through a combination of live and recorded sessions.
    *Recordings posted on the conference website are subject to speaker approval.
