A Message From Our President

Dear Colleagues,

It is with abundant enthusiasm that I cordially invite you to join for the 2025 MFOA Annual Conference, set in scenic Niagara Falls. The theme for this year’s gathering, “Future Proofing: Adapting, Innovating, Thriving,” speaks directly to the dynamic and evolving roles we play as municipal finance officers in our communities.

As always, our conference offers a unique opportunity to connect and collaborate with our peers from municipalities and the broader municipal sector across Ontario, and to learn from one another. These interactions — both formal and informal — are essential to the health of our profession and municipalities. Whether we are sharing experiences or gaining new insights, the exchanges facilitated by our conference help us and our municipalities become more efficient, resilient and worthy of the public trust.

This year’s conference program promises to be our most engaging yet. From thought-provoking keynote speakers and cutting-edge case studies to over 30 CPD hours of learning sessions, there is bound to be something for everyone. To complement this stellar offering, the MFOA team has curated a vibrant trade show featuring leading industry experts who bring valuable perspectives and solutions to the table. And for added flexibility, most sessions will be recorded and thus made available to registered delegates for post-conference viewing.

While I and the MFOA Board encourage you to attend the conference in-person to take full advantage of its networking and learning opportunities, we understand that flexibility remains key for many of our colleagues. That is why we are again offering a hybrid conference experience. Whether you choose to attend in-person or virtually, we are committed to delivering value and impact for you — on your schedule and within your budget.

I very much hope you will join me and your colleagues for what promises to be an inspiring and energizing conference. Register today — and I look forward to seeing you there!

Warm Regards,

Dr. Adam Found, PhD, PLE
MFOA President

How Great Leaders Drive Communication, Performance & Engagement: Learn The 3 Attitudes Of Leaders & How The Attitude Of Great Leaders Is The Driving Force To Engage & Motivate Others

When we study GREAT leaders, we discover powerful patterns in their everyday behavior. These patterns include how they lead their teams, inspire their people, give feedback, manage conflict, take initiative on their most important objectives, carefully manage their time and energy, take responsibility for their choices, and manage change under pressure. All of these skills depend on their attitude and Emotional Intelligence (EQ), so it’s not surprising that research confirms that 90% of top performers across all industries are high in EQ. Although IQ is genetic, EQ can be learned by anyone wanting to be successful in their life and career!
