Strengthening Asset Management Processes (AM 403.3)

As part of the Asset Management Roadmap 3.0 training series, this comprehensive two-part series focuses on business process improvement applied in the context of asset management. Participants will learn systematic approaches to mapping current processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing quality management systems that ensure organizational continuity and compliance with leading asset management standards.
What You will Learn:
Part 1: Process Mapping and Improvement (November 25)
The first session covers process mapping theory and improvement methodologies applied to asset management. Topics include broad asset management business capabilities spanning planning, condition assessments, maintenance, and budget development. Participants will learn practical techniques for mapping current state processes and developing future state visions, while identifying bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and redundant process steps.
Part 2: Maturity Assessment and Quality Systems (December 2)
The second session explores organizational maturity measurement using leading frameworks. Content covers how to assess organizational practices, communicate progress to council and stakeholders, and establish management systems for asset management compliant with global best practices and standards. Participants will learn to develop procedural documentation that ensures organizational continuity and knowledge retention.

About your Presenters:
Daryush Esmaili is Vice President at Aspire Consulting and a Fellow of the Institute of Asset Management. Daryush has over a decade of progressive experience across the full asset lifecycle, and previously served as AVP and Chief Facilities and Sustainability Officer at Sheridan College, managing 150+ staff and $2.4B+ in assets across three campuses. He also served as a Part-Time Professor teaching business process management, and project scope and quality management. He has supported over 50 municipalities in their asset management journey, led the creation of in-house asset management teams, and has led the facilitation of evidence-based corporate capital budgeting processes integrating best practices in asset management, project management, and risk management. He is currently furthering the field through academic research in Civil Engineering and Asset Management at McMaster University, serving as the Convenor of ISO TC251 to develop international publications for integrating sustainability requirements within an asset management system, and is currently supporting the Institute of Asset Management on various initiatives including developing their revised competency guidelines for asset management.
