Municipal Procurement By-Law Development & Update
As a continuation of MFOA’s efforts to advance public procurement knowledge, this public procurement training session will build on the fundamentals of establishing a sound and responsive municipal procurement by-law inclusive of current legal, social, environmental, and legislative compliant policy including best practices required in todays rapidly changing procurement landscape.
What You will Learn:
The workshop will be a combination of learning from knowledgeable practitioners, sharing of lessons learned and time to utilize a practical guide to develop the core fundamentals of a meaningful and responsive municipal Procurement By-Law.
Knowledgeable session practitioners include legal, seasoned supply chain professional and senior municipal leader sharing their expertise and experiences.
An outcome of attending this informative workshop would be the foundation of a new or updated Procurement By-Law, a working knowledge of Environmental, Social, Governance, Indigenous (ESGI) matters, new and understanding of proposed new legislation / Acts, outcomes of recent case law matters and working knowledge of over-all state of supply chain matters including tariffs.
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
- Have the basis for creating or updating their Procurement By-Law.
- Understand key ESGI (Environmental, Social, Governance, Indigenous) considerations in procurement.
- Be aware of upcoming legislation and regulatory changes that affect municipal purchasing.
- Know the lessons learned from recent procurement case law.
- Understand current supply-chain issues, including tariffs, and their impact on municipal purchasing.
